"I often work through the superstitions of my family members within my work. It allows me to confront or work through which parts of me have picked up these similar superstitions or have moved away from them.
This large form references charms or forms that can protect us, such as a horseshoe above a doorway. The surface is covered in sawdust clay, a PVA glue, and a sawdust mixture applied to the surface of the forms. The indentations on the surface are from my fingers patting the clay into the surface."

Brit Krohmer is a Milwaukee-based interdisciplinary artist and educator. Krohmer received her MFA from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2017.
