Sculptural Objects with a Sense of History: Brit Krohmer's Studio Spotlight

By Kate Parvenski

Kate is the Director of Content for Testudo and a Brooklyn-based multimedia producer with a passion for art and storytelling. Her work focuses on documenting and showcasing artists working across a variety of mediums.

Brit Krohmer is a Milwaukee-based artist who finds beauty in the grit of everyday labor. Influenced by the hands-on spirit of rural communities, Brit infuses her ceramics and sculptural objects with a sense of history, resourcefulness, and craft. Join us in Brit’s Milwaukee studio as she reflects on her creative practice—a space where craft, memory, and movement meet.

I think humans inherently put things into a binary. In labor specifically: the feminine, the masculine. As I go through life, I realize how problematic a binary can be. We all move through those energies, and there's power in both and there's power in the in-betweens. There's nothing more special than being able to float through both of them and find joy in those spaces.
